My name is Thekla Finnegan, and I am the German teacher at Beech Springs Intermediate School. I am very happy to be part of the Beech family, and I love to teach 5th and 6th graders.
I was born in Kiel, Germany, but my family moved to Finland, when I was 11 years old. I am passionate about learning more about different cultures, countries, and foreign languages. I have lived in 5 different countries, and studied 6 languages: German, Finnish, Swedish, Italian, French, and English.
I graduated with a Master's Degree in German and Education from the University of Helsinki in Finland. I taught German, Swedish, and English in a Finnish public school for 3 years, before moving to the United States 8 years ago.
In South Carolina, I taught at USC Upstate, and District 2, before finding my home here at Beech Springs three years ago.
I have been married to my soul mate, John, for 13 years, and we have four beautiful daughters: Isabel (12), Nora (10), Rose (5), and Iris (soon 2). We live in Greenville, close to my wonderful in-laws.
E-mail me with any concerns. Learning German should be fun, and I do not want anyone to struggle with it!
